The space at this Meatpacking District Mexican restaurant feels one part roadhouse (honky-tonk music, prayer candles) and one part lounge (Gothic chandeliers, dining alcoves). The fine red sangria infused with cinnamon is worth trying, but few bites were memorable. A barbecued-lamb taco was reminiscent of a bland sloppy joe. Sample cilantro-heavy guacamole or a tasty shrimp-and-pork tamale instead. Desserts, such as soft empanadas filled with tropical fruit, chilies and sweet cheese hit the spot.
