Mad Dog & Beans Mexican Cantina

In a city not typically known for its Mexican food, you might not expect to find a cantina in the heart of the Financial District. Nevertheless, that’s where you’ll find Mad Dog & Beans Mexican Cantina serving up bowl after bowl of guacamole made fresh to order ($12 for a single serving). For your main course, try one of the crowd-pleasing burritos ($15–$17), quesadillas ($13–$15) and tacos on offer (four for $14–$17), or opt for one of the more traditional plates. Think chiles rellenos with black beans and rice ($18) and shrimp fajitas served in a sizzling cast-iron skillet ($24). What Mexican feast would be complete without a margarita? Pick the tequila you like from the list of more than 30 brands, then choose whether you’d like it frozen or on the rocks ($10–$23). Add a flavor like cucumber, blood orange or cactus pear for $2 more. Don’t forget the flan with caramel sauce ($7) or deep-fried churros ($8) to finish the meal!

Went to the one in midtown and the margarita towers ARE REAL and massive - definitely gave us 10+ drinks. The service was a little all over the place but we were also a big group and sort of tucked in the back. Great chips and guac too!

This place is dope! The margaritas are strong & they taste good, service is fast & they always have cool stuff going on. I love Mad Dogs!

Amazing margaritas!!! They have a giant margarita tower which is perfect for partying with a group. My favorite flavor is the blood orange. Probably the best guacamole I've ever had.

This place is good for two things, and two things only: Margaritas & Guac.

Margaritas - get the regular on the rocks, or their Gin version. Super delicious, super strong. Have 3 and you should be preeeeetty buzzed.

Guac - honestly one of the best guacamoles I have ever had. Get it spicy - it really is SO so so good.

Do not waste your time on anything else as it is extremely overpriced shitty Mexican food. Expect to pay $24 for the most bland shrimp fajitas on earth, for example.

So, if you're looking to go for drinks and chips and salsa, come here. If you're looking for better mexican food in the area, head over to El Luchador (yummy tacos, no drinks though) or Cowgirl Seahorse (decent food, decent price, yummy drinks) by the seaport.
