The cupcakerie that launched Manhattan’s minicake trend is under new ownership, but is still going strong. Come for the founding favorites like tart banana pudding and decadent layer cakes, but go easy on the cupcakes—it’s still just 12 per customer.

They say nothings like the real thing....well this is definitely true when it come to the Original Magnolia. Famous for its scene in Sex & the City you can always expect to see a fan of the show snapping pics of there beautiful cupcakes, picking cupcake cook books or locals getting their morning cup of coffee or an Instagram worthy cake. As if a large selection of cupcakes wasn't enough they have The Cupcake of the Day. Such as the Hummingbird, Piscahio, or chocolate raspberry cupcake. Not a cupcake fan...no need to worry. They have cake options, brownies, pies (apple caramel hand pie is my fav & very limited) or you can try their also famous Banana Bread Pudding. Different sizes means you can be selfish w/a small portion or if you're feeling generous opt for one of their larger portions that makes for a great gift when visiting someone. Service is top notch & service with pride. But while there, don't get distracted just looking at what this cute quaint corner store, Jessica Sarah Parker aka Carrie Bradshaw lives in the neighborhood & can be seen walking around w/her kids on any given day. Don't forget to visit the iconic brownstone in which she lived just a block & a 1/2 away on Perry St.

Really great cupcakes, and baked goods. The butter-cream frosting is legendary, and the staff is pleasant and generally helpful. The small chain has a few locations throughout the city, and most have a pretty strong following among locals, and especially seem to attract lines of tourists. Worth the wait on occasion, when you're in the mood for a guilty treat.

Is there anyone out there that doesn't like cupcakes? Well, New Yorkers love them and Magnolia Bakery has six locations around the city to help with the cupcake craze. Each month there are delicious daily cupcake flavors like carrot cake, German chocolate cake, and blueberry lemon. If you like the classic kind of cupcakes, they've got that covered too with vanilla, chocolate, and red velvet cupcakes. Magnolia Bakery has more than just cupcakes, they are baking muffins, scones, layer cakes, and loaves. Magnolia Bakery also gives back with daily food donations to local communities and participates in International aid efforts.

While Magnolia is both a trap for tourists and a guilty pleasure for locals, the West Village location on Bleeker Street allows you to indulge in your favorite cupcakes in one of the chain's quieter locations. Located in the quaint West Village, this place doesn't get too crowded - especially compared to its more famous location by Rockefeller Center - so you can usually run in and out quickly to pick up your favorite cupcake. This location is definitely my favorite out of the multiple ones I've been to around the city!

I know Magnolia's is really touristy, but I still like it. I never wait in the long lines for them, but the cupcakes are delicious. However, the most spectacular thing at Magnolia's is the banana pudding. Seriously, I've never tasted its equal. Even if you don't like bananas that much, you have to get this dessert. Is is SO well made. There is just the right amount of thick, sweet cream, soft mushy bread and banana. I wish I could describe it better, but really just go, and you'll thank me. get a coffee to go with it, because nothing is a better pick-me-up than some coffee and cake, sugar and caffeine. The coffee helps to cut the sweet as well.
