French baker Eric Kayser—whose holdings include more than 20 boulangeries in the City of Light—opens his first stateside café, on the Upper East Side. Nab one of the brass-rimmed marble tables and choose from French breads and pastries (including lemon tarts, brioche and financiers). The 104-seat space is handsomely appointed with wainscotting and light sconces.

Sometimes you find yourself missing Paris. Sometimes you just want a steaming bowl of French Onion Soup. Sometimes you’re just looking for a quant little place to have dinner with your mom. Maison Kayser is perfect for all of these situations. From the maps of Paris in the bathroom to the charming wait staff, MK has a great ambiance that they back up with a delicious menu.

The aforementioned French Onion Soup is probably my favorite menu item as pictured below, but I’ve tried different option across the menu and have yet to be disappointed. I’d recommend the Prix Fixe menu. It’s the perfect amount of food, and you’re definitely going to want a dessert.
