Maoz Vegetarian - Union Sq

A great concept in a chaotic, tiny location, this falafel joint offers chickpea patties with unlimited fixings—serve yourself at the salad bar. Once you’ve scored your fill of seemingly endless toppings, such as shredded cabbage and carrot medallions, experiment with four different sauces, including a mild traditional tahini or a worth-the-wait garlic sauce, which does the rather soggy pommes frites a world of good.

This was certainly a pleasant find. I love Mediterranean food and these falafels had a great flavor and were a great value. The salad bar and extras that come with your meal are incredible. You can load up with as much as you want of the pickles, beets, cole slaw, couscous, and a whole lot more. Also condiments galore! I loaded up my bowl and didn't have to eat dinner later that night! The only critic I have is that their hummus was a little bit watered down and not as thick in consistency as I would've liked. Since there is a location near my office, I'm definitely adding this one on my go-to regulars. At less than $15 for lunch, this is a steal of a deal!

Do yourself a favor and skip the pita, cuz the salad bar is where it's at. Get falafel on a salad and load up on roasted broccoli/cauliflower, couscous, beets and anything else that looks delicious (because all of it is). In the summer I love visiting the one on the UWS and heading over to Central Park to have a picnic and make a day of it. (Pro-tip: Get sweet potato fries and dip in garlic sauce...o.m.g.)
