This barynard chic eatery—with wooden tables, wide windows and a huge yellow awning—set up shop in the space that once housed the eccentric Shopsins. Chef-owner Mike Price (the Mermaid Inn) delivers locally sourced American fare, and excels, particularly with seafood: Scallops are beautifully seared and served with blood orange, hearts of palm and basil. Desserts—notably an apple cake with rum-raisin gelato—go easy on the sugar. Very chic indeed.

Bring your appetite. This charming restaurant serves up a twist on favorites--such as quinoa hushpuppies--in a rustic environment with excellent service. I recently had a work lunch there and left incredibly content. 

The entree portions were just right and allowed us to sample the aforementioned hushpuppies and an oyster each with requiring an afternoon nap after. While I was just whelmed by the steak tacos, my coworkers were floored by their meatloaf. I will definitely go again.

You'll likely be squeezed in here, but the tight fit is worth it for what they're offering: modern twists on farm-to-table classics. There is a lot to choose from, but we always go for the pork schnitzel. Reliably excellent.
