Richard Sandoval reinvents Mexican cuisine at this romantic Upper East Sider, the first in his string of upscale international restaurants (he also opened Maya Dubai). The steak tacos, served with cilantro- and jalapeño-flavored corn tortillas, and the seared scallops with grilled watermelon, are but a few of the standouts on the eclectic menu. Heavier main courses are enlivened with inventive sides like chile poblano–potato gratin; desserts like the “tres leches” bread pudding have similarly creative Mexican accents. An extensive selection of wine, cocktails (notably the signature Margarita Maya) and 85 different kinds of tequila foster a thriving bar scene.

Have a birthday or a celebration with a lot of people and love bottomless Mexican cuisine? Definitely hit up Maya! Everything is served tapas style and the birthday brunch I attended over the weekend had them bring out EVERY DISH on the menu. The squash "quesadillas" (look like empanadas to me!) are so delicious and are pictured below! It is $30 for unlimited food and $45 for bottomless food + drinks. What's nice is that not everyone has to choose one or the other package unlike some places. I'm knocking it one star because the guacamole has to be ordered a la cart and is not an item that's part of the bottomless brunch.

Good spot for a boozy brunch and all you can eat Mexican food.  The price is around $45 and it is well worth it - come hungry and thirsty.  I always get seconds of the Mexican hot dogs.
