The following venues are expected to open by October 8th. Always call ahead, as openings can be delayed.

La Pulperia UES Carlos Barroz takes his rustic Latin cantina to the Upper East Side, serving calamari-and-chorizo fishermen’s stew and cocktails, like the spicy El Chilango (tequila, tamarind), in an earthy dining room finished with Brazilian wood wainscoting and handcrafted Mexican tiles. 1626 Second Ave between 84th and 85th Sts (212-933-0757, pulperianyc.com)

Luke’s Lobster Luke Holden’s shellfish joint pours Maine microbrews like Peak Organic
IPA and doles out buttered lobster rolls and sour pickles alongside Four & Twenty Blackbirds pies in its Brooklyn backyard. 237 Fifth Ave between Carroll
and President Sts, Park Slope, Brooklyn (347-457-6855, lukeslobster.com

Maman Michelin-starred chef Armand Arnal (France’s La Chassagnette) brings Southern France to Soho with this pint-sized French café, awash in country charm, with reclaimed farm tables, vintage colander chandeliers and spindle-leg stools parked at window counters. Partnering with La Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels partner Benjamin Sormonte and baker-event planner Elisa Marshall, classically trained Arnal pulls recipes from the trio’s respective families and honors his own Montpellier childhood with dishes like quiche lorraine, chickpea galettes and Nice’s take on pizza, focaccia pissaladière. Pastry maven Marshall spearheads the sweets, including cakey madeleine cookies, baba au rhum and flan-like clafouti, served alongside Toby’s Estate coffee. 239 Centre St between Broome and Grand Sts (212-226-0700, mamannyc.com)

Rainbow Room The historic lounge atop 30 Rock returns with Jonathan Wright (U.K.’s Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons) at the kitchen’s helm to turn out modern American dishes for both the dinner-and-a-show restaurant and its accompanying bar, SixtyFive. 30 Rockefeller Plaza, 65th floor between 49th and 50th Sts (212-632-5000, rainbowroom.com)

The Upsider At David Colston’s New American gastrobar, find plates like fluke tartare with pistachio and local burrata with pickled nectarines, along with brown-spirit–forward sips like the Vieux Carré (apple brandy, Bénédictine). 1004 Second Ave
at 53rd St (646-726-4760, theupsidernyc.com)
