This colorful, bargain-priced tube-steak chain was the first to pair hot dogs with papaya juice. $5 gets you a 16-ounce drink and two dogs with ketchup, mustard and one topping.

Spent 7 dollars after a mediocre meal up the street! LOVED it. Gangster food for Anthony Bourdain ( break my heart) is snack simple fast food to love! Get the dogs and the Papaya drink! Done.

Papaya King on the Upper East Side has been serving up their delicious dogs and papaya drink since 1932. Even Julia Child said they serve the best hot dogs in New York. The classic frank is the best seller but you can also go for a sausage with peppers and onions, corn dog or a foot long. Papaya king also offers chicken tenders and a chicken sandwich on the menu. There are endless toppings for your hot dog such as cheese, chili, fried pickles, relish and bacon. If you are not a papaya fan you can wash down your franks with several other tropical fruit drinks.

This review is for the UWS location, but oh my god, if you're short on cash, in a rush, or just fancy a decent hot dog, this is well worth a shout. Quick service, and consistently good dogs. I wasn't that keen on the Papaya drink, however, for that price, who's complaining?!
