You’ll find doughy fritters, not Tinkerbell, at this Greenpoint standby. Dip your lightly glazed raised doughnut into steaming coffee at the curved counter or box up a dozen still-warm chocolate cake rounds and black-raspberry jellies—just some of the 20-odd varieties baked daily.

I really wanted to love this place (and I've given it more than one shot!) I think what people love is that it is cheap and they make the donuts themselves. They're good but not the best I've ever had. Go in the morning or they'll be out of almost everything. Very important: know what you want to order when you step to the front of the line or prepare to feel the wrath of the Polish girls working the counter. They will yell at you and/or kill you with their gaze. If you want a really really baller donut go to Underwest Donuts or Dough. Peter Pan is alright if you happen to be in the area, but doesn't live up to the hype, crows and attitude.
I never saw a donut I didn't like, so all the newfangled ones that have popped up in NYC are fine by me, but you really can't beat this old-school Greenpoint classic. Plus, they are SO CHEAP. If you go on the weekend, prepare to wait on line (worth it). If you go late in the day, they'll be sold out of almost anything, but whatever you can your hands on will be DE-lish.
You cannot get better donuts ANYWHERE. Peter Pan has the best donuts I have ever had. Their specialty are old school style, deep fried, glazed cake donuts. They also have raised donuts, pastries and bagels. People are always waiting for egg sandwiches so they must be good, but I personally can’t resist the donuts so I wouldn’t know. I often get a dozen to bring to my office and they are a huge hit. My favorite is the chocolate cake donut, but people love the red velvet. I always get my items to go, but there is a cute counter where people are always sitting down, chatting with the waitresses.
