From Lawrence and Ayako Elliott—owners of Billyburg’s dearly departed Read Cafe—comes this neighborhood eatery, outfitted with wrought-iron light fixtures and exposed brick. When the full kitchen fires up in two weeks, expect hearty eats like braised sea bass over shaved fennel. For now, patrons can subsist on panini, pastries (including four varieties of house-baked scones) and the Elliotts’ proprietary blend of freshly brewed coffee.
