After 12 years, this Pan-Asian hot spot, off Union Square, is still packing ‘em in to their sleek, blond, communal tables. The key to their success must be the consistently satisfying bowls of noodles like spicy coconut, Vietnamese vegetable and pad thai for cheap. Speedy service keeps the waiting-for-a-table times short and the long roomy bar is a nice place to enjoy the din of this bustling New York staple.

I tried the hibiscus punch and it was so worth it! For someone who doesn't usually eat this cuisine I was very happy with it.  The service was quick, but efficient.

I love Republic for their reliable, pan-Asian comfort food - every time I'm there, I know exactly what I'm getting.  The noise level makes it really difficult to converse with whomever you're eating with, but one you get to stuff your face with the grilled japanese eggplant or sauteed curried chicken it doesn't really matter. Drink-wise, there are a lot of options - it's nice that they have saki, but the best drinks come from their cocktail menu. The Asian Sangria in the summer is a good choice. It's a little
