Rice to Riches

Even blasé Soho-ites were a little bemused when this space-age shop opened, serving nothing but rice pudding in flavors that sounded like bad names: Subborn Banana, Black Cherry Birthday Suit, Coconut Coma. But the orange plastic take-out bowls are groovy (and reusable), the puddings are tasty, and the place is open till midnight on the weekends. Oh, how sweet it is.

I’ve been coming here for years, and I will never stop loving Rice to Riches. I’m not a huge fan of rice pudding, but this stuff is fresh, creamy, and refreshing. My favorite flavor is straight up vanilla, but every flavor is sweet, but not too rich or heavy. It’s a little pricey, but the even the small is big enough to share or take home!

They sell the best rice pudding in the city! There are so many unique flavors. I just wanted to sample them all! My personal favorites are the French toast and cookies and cream! You can also add toppings if you want to indulge. However, the flavors are so rich, you probably don't need toppings! The espresso cookie crumble is my favorite topping. Although the pudding is pricey, it is well worth the expense!

Rice pudding lovers heaven!!!! Unsure how great a place that sells only rice pudding could be, I became obsessed!!!! Flavors upon flavors of rice pudding with catchy names. Cinnamon Sling is my go to buy I always make it a point to try and other flavor. Coconut Coma is the BOMB!!!! Add toppings of your choice to make you personalize combination. Always a line but never a dull

Moment reading all the funny signage that serves as decoration. Don't be surprised if you find yourself laughing out loud on your own. Served in eco friendly colorful bowls that come with covers so if you are one of the few that leave leftovers, you can snap your cover on and take your goodies home. When family is visiting NYC I usually finish off a day if siteseeing by stoping in here for dessert rite in the middle of Soho. Love, Peace & Rice Pudding!!!!

I can't get enough of this place. Yes - it's a little pricey for rice pudding, but damn it, it's delicious! I was first extremely skeptical about it. A place that sells nothing but rice pudding? Who even eats that? But I was wrong - they know what they are doing. I have tried multiple combinations and have yet to be disappointed.

My favorite combination of all so far is to do half french toast, half original, with toasted pound cake. TRY THIS ASAP! The graham cracker topping is also bomb.

Do stay away from the caramel vanilla sauce topping though; not so great, definitely not necessary.
