Schiller's Liquor Bar
Keith McNally's popular hangout is as friendly to children as it is to the Lower East Side bar-hop contingent. Staffers stand at the ready to dispense crayons and fold up strollers as you settle in with a Pimm's cup. Brunch consists of solid bistro favorites: a basket of pastries whipped up at big sister Balthazar, seared-tuna salad, steak frites. The sour-cream and hazelnut waffle seems tailor-made for pint-size guests—just hold the maple syrup laced with bourbon. (Bonus: Kids eat free on weekdays from 5 to 7:30pm.)

This restaurant is a must-visit in the Lower East Side. The New-American menu and fantastic craft cocktail offerings are a welcome addition to the sometimes too-trendy offerings of the LES restaurant scene. The staff, especially the bartenders, are quick to offer stellar recommendations plus they've got a great happy hour with half-priced drinks, $1.50 oysters and great food specials.
