Despite the name, this Great Kills patty purveyor goes beyond standard hamburgers, tricking its burgers out with elevated foodstuff like grilled plantains, goat cheese and truffle aioli. Diners can also DIY their own burger, with choice of bun (potato, pretzel), protein (beef, lamb, veggie) and toppings (sautéed onions, jalapeños, angry mayo).

My first experience trying the Standard Burger was at Time Out New York's Battle of the Burger. The Standard was on-site with plenty of fanfare as Marcus Lemonis, host of CNBC's The Profit implored attendees to stop by and try what he called New York's best burger. After turning the business around on the reality show, there was plenty of buzz for sampling the bacon cheeseburger. It was certainly one of the few that stood out, ultimately winning the "golden burger trophy." Located out in Staten Island, the burger will be worth the ride on the Staten Island Ferry when you're up for an adventure.
These are the best burgers on Staten Island. I go weekly and am always looking forward to trying a new burger variety. Also love the homemade potato chips on the side. The shakes are great too! This is the first place I've ever went to and had a cake shake let alone a french toast shake.
