Stone Park Cafe

Chef Josh Grinker’s spirited menu is described by some as “contemporary” American, but he achieves his intensely rich flavors through the use of old-school ingredients. A thick pork chop is bumped up a notch with the addition of pork belly gravy, a mini hamburger benefits from silken short ribs and oily bluefish translates well when prepped as pan-seared cakes. From appetizers to desserts, Grinker sends out food that may not be flashy, but sure is delicious. A lively staff, a wine list with genuine bargains and creative, fairly priced cocktails round out this first-rate neighborhood dining experience.

I've been going to Stone Park Cafe a few times over the past years, last time being maybe a week ago, and have never ever been disappointed. Their ingredients are always fresh from the market and their ingenuity in preparing simple and savory dishes is what keeps me coming. The menu keeps changing and if you go for the daily market menu you'll be surprised at how reasonably priced delicious food can be.
Over my various visits with family and friends it has been a long list of consistently pleasant surprises: whether it is the flank state on a bed of succulent vegetables or the lemongrass Branzino and too many for my poor memory to retain (but my taste buds are still sighing!)
The wine list is rich and varied and the service is always extremely courteous and zealous.
I'm trying hard here to find something to curb my enthusiasm so I'll say that sometimes their desserts are not up to standards: but then again, if you taste their delicious pumpkin cheesecake you'll justly say that I'm being totally unfair!
So kudos to SPC and keep it up!
