One of the first cupcakes I had in NY, and still one of my favorites. It's just a perfect cupcake, everything you want, and the buttercream is perfect. Cute little spot, my favorite is the chocolate with vanilla icing.
Sugar Sweet Sunshine is hands down the best “hole in the wall” bakery in Manhattan. The cupcakes are light and fluffy and many of them feature the signature almond buttercream frosting. There are always unique flavors like red velvet, pistachio, lemon and chocolate peanut butter. But the best thing at Sugar Sweet Sunshine is the pudding. The classic banana pudding is the favorite, but check out other winners like the chocolate chip awesomeness which tastes like butterscotch pudding with crushed up chocolate chip cookies and whipped cream. They even have a “shot” size so you don’t have to feel guilty. Grab a dozen to go for a party or get something and eat it there in the bright, kitschy space.
