I had stumbled upon this unassuming Middle Eastern and Mediterranean eatery on a Wednesday evening for a quick easy bite. I was so pleasantly surprised by how good this place was—I kind of can't stop thinking about it. Imagine if your hole in the wall falafel shwarma joint cared, this is that. They have a great variety of options from lamb to pulled pork to roasted cauliflower that you can either have in a pita or pan (aka glorified bowl) with some real good fixin’s like apple jicama slaw or spaghetti squash. Definitely a vegetarian friendly place and that has some vegan options as well. The staff was also super friendly and offered everyone a frozen apple slushie since it was near closing time. And to top it off they even had, which I’m pretty sure was a Best of Alicia Keys playlist, going in the background. Good food and good R&B, what more can you ask for?

Taboonette is a great Mediterranean lunch time restaurant where you are given the chance to create your own dish, another plus side is the large portions. Delicious falafel, a solid mix of kebabs as well as many shawarma options. You are able to choose between "pita" or "pan"; rice or salad. Feeling extra peckish? Well then add some french fries, humus or tzaziki. This place is a good option for that yummy lunch time meal.

Quick and full of flavor! My friends and I stumbled on this gem - right off of Union Square- and ate here for lunch. Each "pan" came with a delicious arugula salad that was rich in flavor and accompanied with sliced almonds, currants, and a lemon dressing. I opted for the salmon and yellow rice. My friend got quinoa and beef. Both were delicious and the portions were enough to bring some home if needed. If you like sweet iced coffee, grab a bottle of their Turkish iced coffee. It was great on its own or with almond milk!
