This sprawling Italian restaurant falls into an unfortunate Times Square category: the subpar Italian pretheater spot. The standard insalatas, pastas and proteins looks good enough on paper, but ultimately fall flat. “Fresh” cavatelli wasn’t homemade as advertised, but at least arrived properly al dente (though the noodles were wasted under a sour pesto, served with runty shrimp and Manila clams). Meaty entrées fared even worse—a cloying sauce full of raisins made our tough veal scaloppine candy-sweet. The restaurant’s sole draw is its namesake terrace—a large second-floor perch that affords a view of the tourist throngs. But even a great view can’t save this clunker.
