Lamb shank at the National Bar & Dining Rooms
This luxe new eatery, from hotel restaurant impresario Geoffrey Zakarian, offers American bistro fare from morning till night in a grand corner setting. For breakfast, there's a pork-belly Benedict drizzled with béarnaise; lunchtime highlights haute classics like a truffled croque-madame; and at dinner look for mains like a roasted lamb shank with farro and butternut squash. For those just wanting a drink, expect high prices (cocktails hover around $14) and a stunning space to justify them: The bar is zinc, the tables marble, and the staircase (leading to a private dining room above) is gleaming bronze.

Located at the beautiful Benjamin Hotel, which has been said to be an architectural landmark, this James Beard award winning restaurant is always super crowded. The changing seasonal menu is expertly crafted by famous celebrity chef Geoffrey Zakarian. Some delicious starters, or as they call them, bar snacks are the meatballs, cheese board, and the delicious fried cauliflower which comes with crispy garlic, goat cheese, lemon and jalapeno. The kale salad is amazing as well, with pomegranate, green apple, and apple vinaigrette. For your entrée there are so many stand out dishes, but if you love burgers, order the “ugly” burger which may be the only burger you will ever want to eat from then on.
