Bobby Munekata doubles down on his midtown noodle-shop holdings, issuing a second outpost of his mobbed 52nd Street ramen-ya. Located one block south of the original, the 35-seat spot offers staple bowls—spicy pork paitan with sesame oil, miso ramen with wavy egg noodles—along with seafood dishes, like a briny noodle soup bobbing with blue crabmeat and shrimp. Beyond the strands, find steamed dumplings, pork buns and donburi (rice bowls) topped with spicy tuna or char siu.

Pro Tip: If the line is too long at Totto Ramen or you're straight up out of cash, try their sister restaurant next door: Takoyaki Bar! When I asked the waiter what the difference between the two restaurants was, he mentioned Takoyaki Bar only serves pork broth, whereas Totto serves a less tradition chicken broth -- and it takes credit cards! It's a tiny space, but perfect for a chilly night!

This is a GREAT ramen place.  Not the best, but it's 2nd best (if you count Minca and their sister shop as one).  Note that there are 3 branches all near each other so don't get confused.  This one is on W51st, then there's one just one block away at W52nd!  Then there's one more down 52nd on the East side.  Confusing, I know.  But once you're there you'll be treated to really authentic, thick-sauced ramen.  It's a bit peanutbuttery, which isn't everyone's fav, but I LOVE it that way!
