Choose from a simple menu of seafood dishes at this rustic East Village tavern. Raw oysters, shared cheese and charcuterie plates, and a few seafood entrées—like fettuccine with clams and beer-steamed mussels—make up the menu. Eight taps dispense local (New York's Kelso) and international (Belgium's Palm) craft beers.

Amaaaaazing food here! Expect a wait - no reservations. We waited 1 1/2 hours on a Friday at 6. But easy to grab a drink nearby. Food was incredible. We got the oysters, crab cakes, fettuccine with clams, and scallops with mushroom risotto. Everything was delicious and deff want to go back! also have a legit craft beer selcition and they are all only $6 each. Service was awesome. Our waiter gave a us a free sample of a beer

Now here's a happy hour spot. Unfortunately I'm not the only one who knows that, which is why this place is perennially packed.

I have no idea why it's called Upstate, but I don't really care. You're getting oysters and you're getting beer (ok, I got wine, but still). It's not a big place and probably not the happy hour spot if you're looking to pick up people, but it's a great nevertheless and you should go. Sit at the bar if you can.

I have yet to try the fettuccine with clams, but I liked everything I had and I'll be coming back soon. Did I mention the pasta is served in its pot? Exactly.  Also, free whiskey cake at the end of your meal? Always acceptable.
