Despite a menu filled with smartly conceived Northern Italian dishes, an enviable wine list and a stylish, Sicilian drawing room decor, the dominant feature of Uva is noise. Packed with Upper East Siders on first dates, Uva reverberates with energy—but not necessarily the kind you’d want. And that’s a pity, considering the menu—with main courses such as ricotta gnocchi with black truffles, excellent pork tenderloin and sea scallops wrapped in speck—deserves the kind of attention virtually impossible amid the din.

Uva is very, very cute. Dim lighting, close quarters, and charming decor give it a very intimate feel. And the food! Get the bruschetta with ricotta and black truffle honey to start—you won't be disappointed. You really can't go wrong with any of their pastas or mains, either.
Make a reservation ahead of time and you won't be disappointed! I started out with a meat and cheese plate that was well presented and tasted just as great. There's not a lot of room at the bar if you're waiting for a table but the mixed drinks the make are awesome. Wine selection is huge. I recommend it if you're looking for something light. Presentation and flavor is the cornerstone of their business. Gamberoni Grigliati (jumbo shrimp with vegetables) was my choice.
