Time Out says

Some Astorians deem Vesta the best thing to have happened to the ’hood since Elias Corner. (Only it’s Italian.) This perpetually packed trattoria attracts diners nightly with its modern rustic cuisine—and pasta in particular. We can’t say no to the cavatappi with spicy cauliflower and bread crumbs and hearty three-meat lasagna.

The raves are totally beyond me. Myself and several foodie friends tried Vesta, due to favorable neighborhood buzz. To us, the place is a bar hoping to be more. Food is merely adequate. Service is friendly. Prices are way too high for what you get.  Trattoria L'Incontro is the address for a great Italian dining experience in Astoria ( and is considered one of the best in NYC). For great pizza, and decent pasta at terrific prices, try Napoli Pizza.
