This burger shop features a takeout counter upstairs and a casual dining room on the lower level. Our favorite of the speciality sandwiches is a locavore spin on the Juicy Lucy—a Minneapolis burger variant cooked with cheese inside the patty rather than on top. The handsome one-hander boasts prime ingredients, like a proprietary Pat LaFrieda rib blend, a seeded Blue Ribbon bun and crunchy McClure’s pickles, along with an added Southern twang: a gooey pocket of pimento cheese bubbling away in the medium-rare center.

Officially, I'd give Whitmans a 3.5 rating. The burgers here are tasty, and I absolutely love the variety of options. Definitely recommend the Juicy Lucy with the pimento cheese filling in the burger and the Spicy Patty. If you love spicy things, the Spicy Patty is perfect for you. There's a slow burn that builds as you're eating the burger, but not so overpowering that you won't enjoy your burger - a great balance.

Easy, no fuss burger place. Don't let the small front fool you - there's also a basement with more seating! This is on a bunch of TONY lists for best burger and they are great!! The fried pickles are the bomb, as are the french fries (regular AND sweet potato!). I ordered the Spicy Patty and it was fire. YUM.

Go for the Juicy Lucy's and fried pickles!  Note, you can get a slight deal on restaurant.com so head there first!
