Taste Thai food from the Gulf of Thailand

This second location of Elmhurst favorite Zaab Zaab will emphasize Isaan seafood, with dishes including Pla Kha Min—red snapper fried with garlic and cumin—and Larb Pla Duk Yang, grilled catfish tossed with Zaab Zaab’s signature larb seasoning of roasted rice powder, fried lime leaves, roasted chili, mint and fish sauce. (Although the menu features fish, don’t miss ordering the duck larb that made the original location famous!)

To cool your palate, sip cocktails made from a house ya dong, the northeast Thai moonshine made from fermented rice and herbs.

The second location of Elmhurst favorite Zaab Zaab, called Zaab Zaab Talay, is now serving Thai brunch. Dig into Kai Jeow Poo–a fluffy crab omelet packed with lump crab meat– and Pad See-ew with Bacon & Pork Collar. There's also pandan scented Jok Khreung Nai with pork meatballs, liver, intestine, and raw egg, topped with ginger, scallion, cilantro, and fried rice noodles, while Khao Tom Pla brims with fish in a ginger scented pork bone stock.

There’s a classic Northern Thai breakfast from Khon Kaen, Kai Kata–two eggs sunny side up, with sweet sausage, ground pork, Vietnamese ham, and bacon bits–served in a frying pan. To wake you up and cool your palate try a Thai Coffee Negroni made with Whitley Neill Gin, Campari, Thai coffee, and Antica Formula Carpano Vermouth.

“The brunch menu we’ve created is based on classic Thai cooking,” said co-owner Bryan Chunton, who was born in Bangkok. “I’m proud to bring this type of dining to Williamsburg.

Zaab Zaab Talay is open for brunch on weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is located at 208 Grand Street.

“I’m from Taiwan and I love congee, but now I love jok also,” said Zaab Zaab’s co-owner Pei Wei.
