Alex Anthony Salon
Alex Anthony Salon

After working as an educator and stylist at curly-hair haven Oiudad, Alex Mnayarji has teamed up with longtime friend Allison Lacorazza (who helps run the business side of things) to open her first salon. The loftlike space features an open layout with dropped aluminum ceilings and purple accents. Services include haircuts for women ($95–$135) and men ($75–$105), highlights ($100–$275), deep-conditioning treatments ($75), revitalizing scalp treatments ($115) and relaxers ($175). While prices aren’t cheap, we love that five percent of the salon’s quarterly net profits benefit the Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition ( and Gilda’s Club (, a Manhattan home for people living with cancer.

I had purchased a Loot from Lifebooker for Ombre Highlights and a blowout for $89. My appointment

was scheduled for 12pm and Danny was not even there; I was not seated until maybe 30 minutes later.

Apparently there is an additional fee to utilize the loot, which makes NO sense!! I was very specific when

I said “I WANT OMBRE HIGHLIGHTS”. He suggested I put several things (toner, shot) to NOT

“damage/break my hair” and because I had dyed my hair about a week ago. After a few minutes my hair

was washed. I questioned if he was done with the coloring and my response was yes; I did not think so

because the process appeared more like highlights. When I was seated (to get my hair blown out) I

asked if he was done with the coloring Danny confirmed that he was and that my hair was lighter.

Indeed, my hair is lighter all the way at the bottom, but it seems I got a bolayage hair style and not

OMBRE! Before leaving I was charged an ADDITIONAL $143.68!!!! When inquiring about the charges I

was told it was the additional whatever fee to utilize the loot, toner, shot and taxes!! NOT WORTH IT,

TOTAL RIP OFF!!!! And I was there for 3 hours!!!! When I got home my hair was all frizzy, I blow out my

hair way better than this, VERY DISAPPOINTING, DO NOT GO HERE!!!

I was very happy with my experience at Alex Anthony. I made an appointment with Britney (the same name as me) and she was GREAT! Super sweet and very attentive. I just got a cut and blow-out to celebrate my birthday and she really took care to make it perfect. My hair is really long so a blow-out is no easy feat. It was one of the best blow-outs I've ever had. I left the salon feeling amazing. Looking forward to my next visit!

I love the highlights I got... I told her I wanted something subtle and that 's exactly what I got. The stylists really listened to me. The salon is really pretty and clean! The owner Alex is very sweet and skillful - she is very dedicated to making sure the clients are happy with their hair! I also really love the way the "use me" products make my hair feel, and it smells better than any hair care product I have ever used.
