Antonio Prieto has been in the hair business for more than 20 years—he opened his first eponymous salon in Chelsea in 1995—and now lends his expertise to Prieto Select, a pair of more intimate, higher-end spots (the first outpost is in the Trump Soho hotel). The cozy two-chair space is located inside the Hotel Gansevoort and offers haircuts ($155), styling ($85–$155), makeup applications ($125–$150) and a selection of Shu Uemura products ($38–$68), which are used exclusively in the salon. Prieto’s goal is to offer clients entrée to celebrity hair and makeup professionals not normally accessible to the general public. As such, the salon employs a rotating roster of top freelance stylists, handpicked by Prieto, who will travel to your home or office for an additional fee, 24/7. Most offerings are available, such as brow shapings ($30, at-home $60) and makeup lessons ($225, at-home $300), while some services are exclusively executed as in-home treatments, including Sun Love spray tans (half-body $150, full-body $250).
