Makeup artist and licensed aesthetician Joey Healy opened his namesake Midtown West studio in November 2012 and word of his meticulous eyebrow shaping quickly spread, leading him to raise his prices (now $115) and requiring customers to book appointments out a month in advance. In an effort to accommodate even more clients at an affordable rate, he opens a pair of single-chair brow shops inside hair-removal salon Completely Bare. Healy personally selected and trained four technicians to execute his tweezing-only method—a more precise and less aggressive practice than waxing or threading—allowing him to continue to service celebrity patrons such as Kyra Sedgwick and Bethenny Frankel at his original spot. Expect to spend 30 to 45 minutes sitting at the spike-adorned white-lacquer counter, where just three services are offered: eyebrow shaping ($55), tinting ($35) and the combination package Eyebrow Blueprint ($75). Products from the Joey Healy Eyebrow Collection are used during treatments, such as brow-growth serums ($125), clear setting gels ($25), slanted tweezers ($35), waterproof pencils ($25), tinted powders ($28) and dual-ended brushes ($28). You’ll leave with a gratis eyebrow calibration card, detailing the various measurements of your arches, so you can track their growth and accurately maintain their shape between visits.
