At nine-years-old, Jonathan Bodrick recalls sifting through Brooklyn thrift shops and rummaging through his mom’s walk-in closet, and since then, he’s been dreaming about opening his own shop. An acronym for “borrowed, old, refurbished and new,” this high-end eclectic vintage shop, nestled in the back of Makari’s Makeup Salon, carries everything from fur coats and funky belts to antique jewelry and purses. “It’s a store for anyone fun who’s in Harlem,” Bodrick says. Among his gems are black-and-gold suede platform heels ($75), a black abstract clutch with a gold chain design ($150), a deep purple jumpsuit ($60) and a vintage butterfly plate necklace ($325). When he’s not hosting shopping parties for loyal clients, Bodrick looks for more ornate items to add to his collection. “Every piece has a story, and customers love a good story,” he says.
