Taking its name from the Turkish word for “bathroom,” this shop aims to turn your water closet into a bathing sanctuary. Friends Deniz Ayvazoglu, Asena Kolasin and Cemal Alpan are the brains behind the store, which specializes in pestemals—lightweight woven towels that are traditionally used in Turkish hammam baths. The brightly lit boutique has brick walls, copper ceilings and wood floors. You’ll find mostly hand-loomed pestemals imported from Turkey in bright stripes ($21), diamond prints ($35) and versions made from bamboo ($51). It also stocks striped robes in linen ($73) and cotton ($68), plus handmade soaps containing olive oil ($13) and basil ($16), and woven scrubbing bath mitts ($25–$30).
