Brooklyn Yarn Creative Studio
Brooklyn Yarn Café
Sitting in this bustling yarn shop and café feels like being back in grandma’s living room, with the news blaring on the TV and the smell of homemade coconut cake ($3 per slice) wafting in from the kitchen. It’s also packed with locally produced and Fair Trade yarns, like Hapi cotton made in the Peruvian village of Munani ($11 per skein), brightly colored Socos yarn that’s hand-dyed in Chile ($12 per skein) and a Hacho merino wool ($10 per skein) whose proceeds benefit the Mirasol Project, a nonprofit that provides food and shelter for disadvantaged Peruvian children. Newbies can learn how to knit and purl at one of Brooklyn Yarn’s free weekly classes.

I love this place. It's my LYS and the Proprietor really knows her stuff. She teaches classes all the time, has a hangout night (Saturday nights 4-7 I believe), and has excellent taste in yarn. I haven't had any of her desserts yet but I hear they're great too. Awesome!!
