Dr. Oyenike Kilanko and Dr. Ngozi Keshinro left their OB-GYN practices to open a franchise based on self-esteem. Dermacare laser and skin-care centers dot the country, but this is the first to alight in New York state. It’s a small, nondescript spot, but the doctors are warm and informed. In addition to hair removal, the center specializes in all things anti-aging—skin-tightening, laser- and photo-genesis, vein therapy and medical-grade facials—and prides itself on treatments for people of color. “The skill comes in knowing what to do for each skin type,” Dr. Keshinro says. “And there’s no downtime—nobody has to know.”
