For the minimalist

A Scandi-chic space for the person who flourishes with few distractions

Time Out New York in association with Sonos

Listening Room 1, at the front of the shop, sets the template for the new Sonos store’s Listening Rooms. To the left, shelves and designer items like a teapot sculpture made from white wire (a nifty sound diffuser) suggest a kitchen; books line the shelves to the right, among them Last Train to Memphis: The Rise of Elvis Presley, forming the study. The surfaces are all blonde wood and muted greys, and the feel is Scandi-chic. If your creative side blooms in clean and clutter-free spaces, this is the room for you.

Suggested listening: “I’d Rather Die Young,” Beyonce. It’s the first room, so why not test the power of Sonos’s speakers? The underappreciated track from 4 brings out the full force and clarity of the Sonos sound system as Queen Bey’s instrument soars in the chorus and then drops for more intimate verses—plus, her harmonies with the backup singers sound delicious in Sonos surround sound.
