Despite the tiny, 500-square-foot space and limited selection of men’s ($20–$200) and women’s ($20–$1,000) threads, Gamine manages to pack in a unique selection from emerging international designers such as Brazil’s Vish and Iceland’s Eyglo. In order to showcase each innovative collection, owner Rose Toure kept the store’s decor minimal, with sparsely placed hooks and iron installations adorning unfinished walls. Prajaa suede desert shoes ($178) and Future Sentiments tapestry-inspired T-shirts ($85) are essentials for men, while ladies will be taken by Fortune stacked necklaces ($54) and Alicia Reina lace jumpsuits ($450).
