Goorin Bros. Hat Shop
This San Francisco hatmaker expands with a second NYC location (the original is in Park Slope). Brick walls, a black tin ceiling, a leather lounge chair and Edison-style lightbulbs provide an old-timey vibe—fitting, since the company began in 1895. Even the merchandise harkens to the days of yore, with a wide range of fedora styles for ladies and gents, including short-brimmed leather ($100), satin-banded straw ($50) and summery plaid ($54) variations. Guys can don any number of newsboy caps ($38–$110), while women can get a sweet retro look with all manner of cloches ($34–$140). Goorin does contemporary styles too, as evidenced by wildly printed ball caps ($34) and trucker hats ($25). Gals should stop in for summer’s must-have floppy sun hat ($350–$490), such as our favorite red Panama straw version ($140).

The only reason I put an active effort into updating my wardrobe is so that I can be classy enough to one day wear a Goorin Bros. hat.  The hats are pricey, but they're incredibly well-made so if it's a piece you plan on wearing regularly, it's worth splurging on.  For bargain shoppers, definitely visit Goorin Bros. for an off-season hat. They slash their prices significantly so, if you don't mind being patient, you can buy a summer hat in winter for less than half the price.

I love hats, especially in the fall, right when it's getting chilly out, and when it comes to classic, quality hats, Goorin Bros. does it best. This is specialty shop sells only hats. It originated in San Francisco. If you want a hat wardrobe staple, something to sit at the core of your go-to hat pieces, then definitely go to Goorin. The hats are definitely pricey (around $100), but if you really want that beautiful accessory to wear constantly, with everything, then this shop is worth it. There are a variety of style for men and women, and once you put on the right, you'll feel like a more grown-up, complete person.
