Since launching in Wellington, New Zealand, in 1994, this outdoor-clothing company has based its entire line on merino wool, a fiber known for being highly breathable, heat-absorbing and ultrasoft. The 1,200-square-foot store is Icebreaker’s second in the city (the flagship location is in Soho) and showcases the sporty, minimalist men’s, women’s and children’s collections. Simple racks display the functional yet stylish pieces, and while many of the items are on the pricey side—fleece sweaters and jackets range from $160 to $450, leggings are $70 to $100 a pop, and bras and camis can command up to $50—there are plenty of wallet-friendly basics, including ladies’ striped socks ($20), unisex fleece gloves ($35) and solid-colored beanies ($25).
