As the daughter of a successful designer and seamstress, Sevil Sevdiyar is no stranger to fashion. After inheriting her mother’s collection of fabrics from the ’60s and ’70s, Sevdiyar decided to follow in her mom’s footsteps and launch her own line, named after the Turkish word for “euphoria.” The NYC-made womenswear ($90–$475) hits a chic balance between retro and contemporary styles: Mod shift dresses ($435) are punched up with bright fabrics and whimsical floral details, simple wool trousers ($275) are modernized with the addition of leg-lengthening front pleats, and quintessential ’70s fabrics are reborn as trendy fishtail skirts ($200). Customers can also design their own pieces, choosing from an array of styles, cuts and seven different types of fabric to create truly one-of-a-kind items that are completed in just one week.
