Founded in Los Angeles in 2008, this high-end skin-care brand specializes in products infused with 24-karat colloidal gold, which is said to have antiaging benefits. Although Orogold has 70 stores across the globe, this tri-level flagship is the brand’s first in NYC. Rather than pack the white-lacquered, 3,600-square-foot space with its spendy moisturizers ($128–$1,000), cleansers ($118–$138), serums ($128–$1,500), body creams ($28–$68) and masks ($248–$1,500), the company keeps just a few testers of each item displayed in golden alcoves for a clean, minimalist look. Either play with samples of eye serums ($198), collagen-renewal creams ($248) and men’s aftershave balms ($148) on your own, or have a staffer help you find the proper products for your skin type via a complimentary 20-minute facial (no purchase necessary) in one of the two subterranean gilded treatment rooms. Shoppers are encouraged to linger at the upstairs bar, where you can sip a gratis cappuccino or espresso beside the tiered chandelier. Make sure to check out the new 24K Mousse Perfecting Foundation ($98)—Orogold’s first foray into color cosmetics.
