The Provençal, Fair Trade beauty company made its American debut at Rockefeller Center with its first stand-alone boutique on U.S. soil. The sleek shop is a feast for the senses with aromatic hand-dipped candles ($35), flavorful loose-leaf teas ($20–$22) and colorful Japanese furoshiki gift-wrapping materials ($50–$60). Also look for perfume extracts ($17), oils ($30–$74) and skin-care products ($29–$49) that incorporate organic ingredients from across the globe, including coconut from Bali, pomegranate from India and argan oil from Morocco. The artisanal products are painstakingly crafted in Southern France, and the packaging is made using vegetable ink and recycled and recyclable materials. Each item comes with its own creation story, and Terre d’Oc works with NGOs worldwide to source all of the natural ingredients. Give back by picking up notebooks made from sugarcane waste ($6–$8); 100 percent of the proceeds help provide scholarships for underprivileged Vietnamese children.
