Stomp the city pavement wearing rugged shoes scored at Timberland’s shop in Herald Square (the chain’s other NYC space is in Soho). The store is designed with reclaimed wood, tabletops made from repurposed industrial machinery and used-stoneware floor tiles. Even some of the kicks are sustainable, such as the Earthkeepers collection of recycled-material shoes ($60–$180), which can be mailed back to the company to be disassembled and reused after they’re worn out. Preppy green-goers will dig Earthkeepers men’s leather-and-canvas boat shoes ($90) and women’s nautical ballet slip-on styles ($80). Leather lovers will favor the premium Timberland Boot Company line, which includes ladies’ ruched canvas-covered wedges ($170) and guys’ burnished leather oxfords ($250). In celebration of the store opening, Timberland is also producing an exclusive line of T-shirts and footwear that will be released throughout the summer. Pick up a hand-screened i heart ny T-shirt with a boot in place of the heart ($40) or one bearing the Statue of Liberty ($40). Come mid-June, nab boots and boat shoes inspired by each of the five boroughs ($110–$180).
