This place is awesome. The selection is incredible. My salesman Tom was great. I came in for a pair of black lace ups and walked out with a pair of sneakers as well as a pair of sandals
My experience at Tip Top Shoes was negative to say the least. I bought a pair of shoes and less than 24 hours later I decided to return them because they were not quite my style. Not only did the staff refuse to listen and give me my money back or even an exchange, but they were extremely rude and called me a thief and a liar. The employees caused a scene throughout the entire store that was very embarrassing. I was not trying to fight which I expressed, (I even apologized) but I wanted to explain the situation and be about my business. After being blatantly disrespected by the staff I took the shoes and left, having my day completely ruined and saddened by this behavior. I expected more from what I thought was to be a nice shoe store on the Upper West Side. Would not recommend.
Check pricing before you buy on line.
Sonia was great in getting me the shoes quickly but when I asked for price match for Mothers day sale elsewhere, she would not do it. She did say that she will give me the $10.00 difference from the competitors regular price. At least this will help a little with shipping.
I will be sending one of the 2 pairs back since I found locally and the store gave me the same price as the on line discounted retailer! "Lebos"

I bought from Tip Top for years: I like the range of shoes they carry and some of their salesmen (yes, always men) are quite good. But, based on my recent experience, I will never buy there again. I bought three pair of shoes for about $900+ and subsequently decided to return one pair. It was within a month but outside their "five day" return policy so I could only get a store credit. I think this is outrageous...and frankly, stupid. Why anger a customer that pays $900 at a time for shoes simply so you can hold on to their cash? I prefer to use stores that are more customer oriented and show it with reasonable return policies.
Tip Top is the best for affordable and comfortable all-season shoes. The Manager, Harold, and the Salesman, Frank, were kind, helpful, and beyond professional when I had to make two returns due to errors I had made during my purchases. These guys and their lovely, sympathetic female cashiers made my experience such a pleasant one. These very kind, attentive people and this store deserve a strong A++. A rare find.
