Fragrance-industry veterans Stamatis Birsimijoglou and Eric Weiser founded their e-commerce site, Parfum 1, in 2001 as an antidote to the mass-produced perfumes that are churned out by beauty behemoths. This 650-square-foot boutique is a brick-and-mortar extension of that ethos, offering lesser-known indie scents from around the globe. Williamsburg design studio Plant (plantbrooklyn.com) created the bright, modern interiors, including a chandelier fashioned from the same bottles of Etat Libre d’Orange eau de parfum ($80–$149) that are sold in the shop. Sip a gratis espresso as one of the proprietors walks you through all-natural fragrances from Providence Perfume Co. ($68–$125) and Undergreen ($140), niche brands such as Slumberhouse ($125) and Maison Dorin ($95–$300) that are exclusive to the store, and Kings County labels, including MCMC ($45–$95), D.S. & Durga ($89–$96) and Joya ($28–$112). Also look for In Fiore organic skin care ($65–$150), Sheswai nontoxic nail lacquers ($14) and scented candles ($58–$68) from local florist Belle Fleur.
