This crash course for wine novices covers the basics of flavor, smell and vocabulary. Taste three whites, three reds, a dessert wine and champagne—and get a demo on the art of sabering a bottle of bubbly. The bottles will be selected just before the event, but they'll definitely showcase common varietals (chardonnay, pinot noir and cabernet) you're likely to encounter the next time you're handed the wine list.
