While this downtown recreation outpost offers many of the activities you'd expect—soccer, swimming and basketball among them—it also has a selection of things to do that might seem unusual in a municipal rec center anywhere else in the country. A bocce court, belly-dancing classes and hula aerobics are all available for interested New Yorkers. The 100-by-50-foot pool also features one of the few remaining diving boards in the city and a Keith Haring mural painted on the pool’s back wall.
