Bad Theater Fest

This annual celebration of deliberately substandard work includes comedy, musical theater and mock drama and aims to "elevate the misfit, castoff, underdog and downtrodden artist." The lineup includes gems like "The Stephen King and I," wherein comedian Tabitha Vidaurri explains every Stephen King novel in 15 minutes, and the short play "Yes, this is a sweater: Scenes from Duolingo," written entirely with sentences from the language-learning app. Expect to see shows with gaping plot holes, underdeveloped characters and some strong (but ultimately wrong) choices—and be reminded that sometimes something is so bad it's good.
