Simon Russell Beale, utterly engrossing and painfully acute, stars as a wry, patient and secretly guilt-ridden London cabbie in the local debut of Simon Stephens's resonant 1998 drama. Gaye Taylor Upchurch’s perfectly calibrated staging should not be underrated, but the real draw is the rare chance to take a ride with one of the greatest actors alive.—DC
