Grace Galu and Baba Israel's musical revue, inspired by Martin A. Lee’s book Smoke Signals: A Social History of Marijuana, offers the straight dope about cannabis throughout the decades as experienced by a wide range of users, from artists and musicians to medical patients and activists. Librettist Israel codirects with dramaturg Talvin Wilks, and composer Galu serves as musical director; the show is copresented by HERE and La MaMa.
