Encores!: I Married an Angel

City Center's invaluable concert-staging series Encores! continues its 26th season with this 1938 rarity by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart. New York City Ballet étoile Sara Mearns makes her theatrical debut as a guileless heavenly being who marries a Hungarian banker (Mark Evans) and sends his business into chaos. Joshua Bergasse—who is married to Mearns in real life—directs and choreographs a cast that features Ann Harada, Nikki M. James, Max Baker and Phillip Attmore. The score includes the standards "Spring Is Here" and "I'll Tell the Man in the Street"; Rob Fisher conducts the orchestra.
