I go to the theater hoping to be entertained. Michele Chivu, the director, had been a student of mine, so this was an obligation--but let me say immediately that it was a thoroughly satisfying evening. The script is clever and fascinating. The production is absolutely magical. I hate one-man (or one-woman) shows, but this doesn't feel like one. The multiple characters are so clearly delineated that you feel as if you've seen a cast of many people. The highest praise I can give is: you won't feel you have wasted your money. With EVOLUTION I say, "If you go see it, you will have an enthralling time, and you won't feel you have wasted your money." Plus: you'll have a good time. Plus: you'll feel you have been painlessly EDUCATED, in a way you'll like. I promise.
